Western Star Trucks was founded by White Motor Company in 1967 under the name White Western Star. The initial Western Star production facility was in Kelowna and built trucks on the belief that the driver is the most valuable asset in the trucking industry. Western Star Trucks originally engineered our trucks to endure heavy-duty vocations such as logging and oilfield work which caters to the Western Canadian market.
In 2000, DaimlerChrysler purchased Western Star Trucks and Detroit Diesel, who produce the preferred engine of choice for Western Star Trucks. This acquisition has allowed Western Star Trucks to produce some of the most durable and technologically advanced Class 8 trucks in the industry. The 4900 truck has been the workhorse for Western Star over the last 50 years. With the development of new models such as the 4700 and 5700, Western Stars are now available in new vocations such as highway and municipal.
Western Star Trucks North was founded by Barry Robinson in 1987 based on the core values of service, professionalism, and building relationships with our customers. We are a family owned and operated business backed by Daimler AG. This demonstrates the relationship-based experience we provide along with access to industry leading technological advancements.
Western Star Trucks North opened their new location in Acheson in September of 2017 in order to service the industry in more ways than trucks and service. The service department is Elite certified and operates in 36 full-service bays. These bays are managed by our 27+ service technicians who are certified to work on Cummins, Detroit, and CAT engines. Our techs also use our state-of-the-art dyno bay for accurate diagnostics when servicing vehicles. We have fully stocked parts department with a strong emphasis on customer service.
The fabrication department has six welding and rig up bays so that your Western Star works and looks the way that you want. The body shop and paint bays are here to fix your trucks and give you the paint job that you or your fleet needs. Our award-winning sales team has an average of 20 years of experience. They can provide a variety of new chassis and rigged trucks while our used department handles trades and used inventory.
Western Star Trucks North now has two additional locations, one in Fort McMurray and one in Grande Prairie. We have been serving the Western Canadian market for the last 33 years and will continue to do so with the same core values of relationship building and great service.
